Master Class: FoCo Technique

We are thrilled to welcome Grace Whitworth, Yin Yue Dance Company’s official Rehearsal Director and Stager, for a master class in FoCo Technique! The FoCo Technique class requires sophisticated understanding of dance technique and demands strong physical and mental stamina. The standard class is 90 min and it starts with an active follow-along sequence including Activating, Rooting and Mapping. In each of these sections, students are led by the instructor to develop awareness in muscular structure and response in order to achieve precision and control, identify and embody rhythmic pattern, dynamic change and intricate transitions, form strong interaction and connection with gravity and generate heat in the body to prepare for the phrase work. In the second part of the class phrase work or repertories are taught in detail. Through learning the movement sequence, students will experience the coaching style used for YYDC. By the end of each class, the repertory will be performed in smaller groups.
